Verifying who someone actually is matters more here than on a typical delivery app. A Chef@Home visit means welcoming someone into your home, or a Chef preparing food for someone they've never met. F4F doesn't build or run its own identity-verification system; that job goes to Stripe Identity, the same document-and-selfie verification infrastructure used by marketplaces and fintechs around the world. Verification is optional for ordinary browsing and ordering, but required for either side of a Chef@Home visit.
Every payment and payout on F4F runs through Stripe, a PCI-DSS-compliant payment processor used by millions of businesses globally. When you add a card or complete an order, your card details go directly to Stripe. F4F's systems only ever hold a reference token, never a raw card number, expiration date, or CVV.
See our Privacy Policy for the complete list.
Chefs keep more of what they earn: just 9% commission on a completed pickup order (12% for a Chef@Home booking), no monthly subscription, no listing fee. Foodies never pay a platform fee on top of an order's price. That's the whole model. See our Terms of Service for the details.
Most orders go fine, but when one doesn't, F4F has a real process for it, not just a support inbox. A Foodie can file a complaint within 24 hours of pickup or delivery, attach evidence photos if it helps, and message the Chef directly about it. The Chef reviews it and decides on a full or partial refund, processed by Stripe straight back to the Foodie's original payment method. Every step, filed, messaged, decided, refunded, is timestamped and visible to both sides. See how refunds & complaints work in our Terms of Service.
Stripe and Stripe Identity are the only third parties that ever touch a payment or an identity document on F4F. Both are global infrastructure built specifically for this job, not a general-purpose database we bolted security onto after the fact.
Our How it works walkthrough shows real screens from the app for both Chefs and Foodies.
